CHRIS STAPLETON - From A Room: Volume 1  - Mercury Nashville Chris Stapleton's  new album, From A Room: Volume 1 , is released on Mercury Records Nashville. The highly anticipated full-length record is the first new music from Stapleton since 2015's breakthrough double Platinum solo debut Traveller and will be followed by From A Room: Volume 2 coming later this year. The album takes its name from Nashville's historic RCA Studio A, where it was recorded during the winter of 2016-17. Once again produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, Volume 1 features eight original songs as well as a rendition of "Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning," written by Gary P. Nunn and Donna Sioux Farar and made famous by Willie Nelson.     _________________________________________________________ VARIOUS ARTISTS - Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of the Story (An Album to Benefit War Child)  - Sony Legacy This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Brandi Carlile's breakthrough album The Story. To celebrate she recruited artists like Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Pearl Jam, The Avett Brothers, Adele and many more for this  Cover Stories album to benefit the charity War Child.  Brandi describes this project as "...a David and Goliath story. Since becoming a mother, the reality of a child s beautiful little life being torn apart by war felt like too big of a problem for me. So I asked my heroes and friends to help me launch a rock at the giant that is our refugee crisis and help in the only way we know how, through the power of music." BLONDIE - Pollinator  - BMG Pollinator is Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers and NME Godlike Genius Award winners  Blondie's  11th album. Pollinator has been two years in the making and follows on from 2014's 40th anniversary celebrations and the subsequent release of Ghosts Of Download. Alongside original band members Chris Stein, Debbie Harry and drummer Clem Burke, the album also features contributions from: Johnny Marr, Sia, Dev Hynes, Charli XCX, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Nick Valensi (The Strokes) and The Gregory Brothers. THE AFGHAN WHIGS - In Spades  - Sub Pop “Divination/Cleromancy/Comes the card that I refused to see” – The Afghan Whigs , “Oriole” “Cleromancy” isn’t a word one normally finds in rock lyrics. Then again, In Spades – the new album by The Afghan Whigs, from which the new song “Oriole” hails – is defined only by its own mystical inner logic. The term means to divine, in a supernatural manner, a prediction of destiny from the random casting of lots: the throwing of dice, picking a card from a deck. From its evocative cover art to the troubled spirits haunting its halls, In Spades casts a spell that challenges the listener to unpack its dark metaphors and spectral imagery. On the one hand, In Spades is as quintessentially Afghan Whigs as anything the group has ever done – fulfilling its original mandate to explore the missing link between howling Midwestern punk like Die Kreuzen and Hüsker Dü, The Temptations’ psychedelic soul symphonies, and the expansive hard-rock tapestries of Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd. At the same time, this new record continues to push beyond anything in the Whigs’ previous repertoire – another trademark, along with the explosive group dynamic captured on the recording. Indeed, the chemistry of the lineup – Dulli, guitarists Dave Rosser and Jon Skibic, drummer Patrick Keeler, multi-instrumentalist Rick Nelson, and Whigs co-founder/bassist John Curley – set the tone for In Spades’ creation. When it came to follow up the band’s triumphant return to recording – Do To the Beast (Sub Pop 2014), which was the band’s first ever Top 40 album, – the die was cast. “This is the first time since Black Love [the Whigs’ 1996 noir masterpiece] that we’ve done a full-blown band album,” Dulli says. The joys, sorrows, and upheavals of innocence and experience echo throughout In Spades: it powerfully documents where The Afghan Whigs have been, and where they might go next. For Dulli and Curley, it’s a journey that, since their origins as one of the first Sub Pop acts to be signed from outside the label’s Pacific Northwest base, has spanned decades. Dulli notes they were barely in their twenties when they first started the band, and yet here they are, fulfilling dreams long held and frequently realized. “Having a break from the Whigs helped me remember what made it so rewarding,” Curley says. “Over the course of a lifetime, there are constants, and there’s also change. You see who’s dropped off the vine – who’s going in reverse, and who’s still by your side. It’s interesting to see where life takes you, and where it doesn’t. That’s the journey and it hasn’t stopped.” In Spades was recorded at Rick Nelson’s studio Marigny Sound in New Orleans, LA.   _________________________________________________________ ANGEL SNOW - Magnetic  - Nettwerk Records The music of Angel Snow is moving, ethereal and at times, chillingly honest. The Nashville based singer songwriter’s music is always evolving; combining her accomplished songwriting with haunting, engaging vocals and electronic textures. This new album combines her Americana roots with these more electronic textures, creating a fresh sonic landscape that is at once raw and beguiling.   _________________________________________________________ CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD - Betty's Self-Rising Southern Blends Vol. 3  - Silver Arrow Records Chris Robinson Brotherhood's acclaimed live album series, 'Betty's Blends,' returns with 'Volume 3: Self-Rising, Southern Blends.' Recorded and mixed live from the soundboard by legendary Grateful Dead archivist and recording engineer Betty Cantor Jackson, this latest edition captures the CRB on a Southern swing through Atlanta, Raleigh and Charleston in November 2015. The 2-LP/2-CD set includes original staple CRB material like, Clear Blue Sky, Roan County Banjo, and Oak Apple Day, but focuses on the band's sprawling selection of cover material ranging from Allen Toussaint's Get Out Of My Life Woman to the Leiber/Stoller classic I'm A Hog For You, Bob Dylan's She Belongs To Me to the Slim Harpo rarity The Music's Hot. It also marks the first release in the series with current CRB drummer, Tony Leone. In Robinson's own words, With Betty, we trust her sonic sensibilities and give her the space and freedom to do what the woman does, and what she does is beautiful and unique. It's the stuff rock n' roll dreams and recordings are made of. Viva la Betty! _________________________________________________________ AT THE DRIVE IN - In.Ter A.Li.A  - Rise Records The music industry sees artists come and go on a regular basis. HARRY STYLES - Harry Styles  - Sony Harry Styles , the highly anticipated self-titled debut album from the global superstar. DREAMCAR - Dreamcar  - Sony In the summer of 2014, No Doubt's Tony Kanal [bass], Tom Dumont [guitar], and Adrian Young [drums] and singer Davey Havok [AFI, Blakq Audio] began writing and demoing music together. Without telling a soul outside of their significant others, the four musicians clandestinely moved into a cramped downtown Los Angeles rehearsal spot and revved up what would become  Dreamcar . The result of this collaboration is their self-titled debut album,  Dreamcar , produced by Tim Pagnotta [Neon Trees], with whom the band found a kindred spirit. ZAC BROWN BAND - Welcome Home  - Atlantic GRAMMY-Award winning  Zac Brown Band  release  Welcome Home , the band's new album and their first release on Southern Ground / Elektra Records. Produced by GRAMMY-Award winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and In The Arena Productions, and recorded at Southern Ground Nashville studio, ‘WELCOME HOME' is what the band calls not only a return to their roots, but also a return to 'The Foundation,' the band's debut album that is now 5X platinum. The theme of reflection is echoed throughout the 10-track album. Songs range from the first single, "My Old Man," which paints a poignant picture of the ever-changing relationship between fathers and sons to "Two Places at One Time," about juggling the conflict between life on the road and the comforts of home, and "Roots," which honors the band's journey from their humble beginnings. In addition, the band continues their tradition of recording a cover song they all admire, this time with John Prine's "All The Best." "This is the most personal album we've ever done and we're very proud of it," said Brown. "Welcome Home." PARAMORE - After Laughter  - Fueled By Ramen After Laughter was recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio B -  Paramore's  first time recording in their own beloved hometown. Adds Furlong, “The whole idea was to take the classic elements of Papa Roach that everyone loved and revamp them into a modern version of the sound through the creative process, and we ended up with a bold, courageous and more adventurous version of Papa Roach.”    _________________________________________________________   MATISYAHU - Undercurrent  - Fallen Sparks Rec. Singer-songwriter Matisyahu has been on a journey inward for more than a decade. The journey has been private and public.
