childrenscrisiscenter.com

The Children's Crisis Center of Stanislaus County is a private, nonprofit, child abuse prevention and intervention program serving all of Stanislaus County from five shelters located in: Modesto, CA, Turlock, CA and Oakdale, CA. The Center provides 24 hour emergency shelter and childcare to children birth to 17, and support services for families in crisis - FamilyLine (24 hour hotline), Case Management/Advocacy, and Education. All services are provided free of charge to families. Incorporated in July 1980, the Children’s Crisis Center has served the community for over 30 years with State Licensed Group Home, Day Care and Infant Care Centers. Through the provision of comprehensive shelter services the Children’s Crisis Center has served the critical needs of high risk children residing in Stanislaus County. In response to community need the Crisis Center has expanded to include five shelter sites: Guardian House (Oakdale), Sawyer House (Modesto), Cricket’s House (Modesto), Verda’s House (Turlock) and Marsha’s House (Modesto). The Children’s Crisis Center partners with all other local organizations serving children and families and is relied upon as a reputable resource for children at risk. The Crisis Center routinely collaborates with other professional agencies (such as, local law enforcement, social services, courts, and local schools) in coordinating services for families. The Crisis Center also recruits professionals from the fields of law enforcement, child welfare, mental health, medicine, etc. to serve on our Board to administer program activities addressing the needs of local children at risk. The mission of the Children’s Crisis Center of Stanislaus County is to provide child abuse prevention, intervention and shelter services to abused, neglected and high risk children living in Stanislaus County and its surrounding communities. Our immediate goal is to reach high risk children and intervene with protective child care and emergency shelter before they are harmed. The Children’s Crisis Center is a private, non-profit organization established in 1980 solely to protect local children threatened by their own family circumstances. Since that time, the Center’s operations have grown from one shelter site to five, encompassing 3 cities, and serving over 20 communities in the Central Valley. As part of our comprehensive approach to protecting local children, the Crisis Center shelters children from high risk families and extends supportive services to abusive parents, helping them to overcome family risk and alleviate environmental factors that threaten the well being of their children. The Children’s Crisis Center is the only program in Stanislaus County offering this broad based approach that combines respite, shelter, emergency child care, crisis counseling and empathetic support to protect high risk children and help abusive families achieve meaningful change
